We, along with so many others, had zero experience freelance writing, did not have a website when beginning, did not spend money to find jobs, and have made plenty of money using freelance writing platforms that others say to stay away from.

However, we completely understand those tiny voices in your head that make you question all of this. We initially had the same thoughts. Instead of letting them percolate and linger, we decided to make a plan and execute.

Let’s take a look at who is making money as freelance writers and how you can as well.

So, how can you become a freelance writer today?

Here are a few tips to get started and to become a freelance writer:

Getting started can take as little as a few days or a few weeks, without writing experience or published work, without setting up a business entity, and without having a website.

One of the biggest keys to becoming a freelance writer is being motivated to make that leap. If you want it enough you can get started today, this week, or this month.

When we made the decision to begin our journey, we found our first paying client within 1 week of applying for writing assignments. We got started on Upwork, something other writers would say to steer clear from. But that first client still hires us today for projects, and we raised our initial pay rate so that it is worthwhile.

So, the bottom line is that anyone with a skill to write can become a freelance writer! Do not let inexperience, challenges of finding your first client, or lack of knowledge hold you back.

If we were able to start making real money quickly, without capital investment, you can as well. The question is… what is holding you back from getting started? Are you ready to become a freelance writer?
